What is life coaching?
What is Life Coaching? Coaching is a partnership of two people coming together to assist a client in identifying where they’d like to go, what needs to be shifted, and what identified milestones will demonstrate that the partnership is producing desired results. Coaching is client focused, client directed, and goal oriented. It is future visioning and increased mental clarity. It is the belief in every human being's capability to transform and change their lives. Coaching inspires clients to maximize their personal and professional potential, often unlocking previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership.
What are sessions like? If you're like most people, you've not been given many chances to dream about your life out loud. It might feel a little uncomfortable at first, especially if you are not used to talking about yourself. However, my sessions are designed to feel like a soft, relieving conversation with a supportive, loving friend. Sometimes a thoughtful agenda helps to drive forward movement, and other times there is noticeably less structure. It all depends on your unique needs. Regardless, you will always walk away with at least one new seed planted, further clarity on your goals, and weight off your shoulders.
How is Coaching different from Therapy / Counseling? Therapy is often closely related to coaching, but has different processes, intentions, and necessary education and background. Therapy is used to treat mental health through psychotherapeutic methods, and helping clients achieve and maintain baseline. Only therapists and counselors are qualified to determine and diagnose mental illnesses. Simply put, therapy helps folks go from anguish to baseline. Coaching helps those at baseline reach flourishing.
